Kawasan Falls Cebu 2026: How to Get There, What to Expect & Travel Tips

Kawasan Falls in Cebu is one of those places you’ve probably seen all over social media, and yes, it really is that blue in real life.

Its turquoise water alone is enough to make you want to jump in. And once you actually do, you’ll get why people keep coming back.

UPDATE…

I visited in mid-March 2025 and in May 2026, right after our canyoneering adventure. I’ll be honest, it’s not my number one waterfall in the Philippines, but it’s still worth the stop, especially if you’re already in the area getting soaked and jumping off cliffs anyway.

If you’re thinking of visiting this year, here are a few things you should know before you go.

🗺️ Where is Kawasan Falls Located?  

Kawasan Falls is tucked away in Barangay Matutinao in Badian, on the southwest side of Cebu. It’s about 107 kilometers from Cebu City, which sounds far, but trust me, it’s a trip many travelers are more than willing to make.

Badian itself is a quiet coastal town, but don’t let that fool you. It’s home to rivers, freshwater streams, jungle canyons, and of course, the famous Kawasan Falls canyoneering that put it on the map.

🎟️ How Much is the Entrance Fee to Kawasan Falls?

If you want to visit and enjoy Kawasan Falls, there is an entrance fee of ₱200 ($3.30). The good thing is that this fee goes directly to the municipality of Badian to help maintain the falls and support the local community.

There are also a few extra fees to keep in mind. Renting a table and chairs near the pools costs around ₱500, while lockers are available for ₱100.

📍 From Cebu City

🚌 Public Transportation (Bus to Badian from Cebu South Bus Terminal)

If you are coming from Cebu City, taking the bus is still the easiest and most budget-friendly way to reach Kawasan Falls. It is also the option most travelers go for, especially if you are not in a rush.

Head to the Cebu South Bus Terminal and look for the yellow Ceres buses bound for Badian or Bato. The trip usually takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic and stops along the way, and the fare is roughly ₱130 to ₱150 ($2.15 to $2.50).

For a smoother trip, it is best to take the route going to Bato via Barili. This way, you will pass by the west side of Cebu, which is where Kawasan Falls is located.

Try to avoid buses going via Oslob, as they take the longer route on the east side of the island and will not drop you near the falls.

Before settling in, let the driver or conductor know that you are heading to Kawasan Falls so they can drop you at the right stop, usually near the access road in Badian.

From there, it is just a short ride or walk to the entrance.

🚕 Taxi or Private Transfer  

If you want a more direct and comfortable option, you can hire a taxi or arrange a private transfer from Cebu City to Kawasan Falls. This is more expensive than taking the bus, but it saves you time and effort.

Fares usually start at around ₱2,000 from the airport and can go higher depending on the driver and your exact pick-up point.

If you are coming from the city, you may be able to negotiate a slightly lower rate. Booking in advance is also a good idea if you want to avoid the hassle of negotiating.

This option is ideal if you are short on time or just want a more relaxed trip straight to Badian.

🚗 Car Rental (Self-Drive)  

If you prefer more flexibility, renting a car is another great option. It allows you to travel at your own pace and even make stops along the way.

From Cebu City, just take the South Coastal Road and follow the route toward Badian. The drive usually takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic.

There are plenty of car rental options in Cebu City, including platforms like DiscoverCars and Klook, where you can choose from different types of vehicles.

📍 From Moalboal

Another easy way to reach Kawasan Falls is by coming from Moalboal. If you’re already staying here, you’re in a great spot since it’s one of the closest jump-off points to Badian.

The trip usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes, so it’s perfect for a quick half-day adventure. You can rent a scooter or a car if you want more flexibility, especially if you plan to explore other spots after.

If you prefer a cheaper option, you can hop on a public bus heading toward Badian for around ₱20 ($0.35). There are also motorcycles available if you want something faster and more direct.

Just let the driver know you’re going to Kawasan Falls, and they’ll usually drop you off at the access road or tell you when it’s your stop.

📍 From Oslob 

If you’re starting from Oslob, reaching Kawasan Falls takes roughly 1.5 hours. For a more comfortable and hassle-free ride, you can rent a car or hire a private van, which will take you directly to the falls.

If you’re on a budget, you can take a public bus from Oslob to Bato, then transfer to another bus or van heading to Badian (or Cebu City via Barili). The total fare is usually around ₱100 ($2).

Things to Know Before Visiting Kawasan Falls

1. There are Three Waterfalls in Kawasan

Kawasan Falls isn’t just one waterfall. It’s actually a series of tiers, each with its own natural pool where you can swim, relax, or soak in the striking turquoise water. The thing is, the second and third levels are only accessible when you do canyoneering.

For more details, below is a breakdown of what to expect at each level:

👉 Main Level

This is the star of the show and the most popular and crowded spot.

The large pool with its signature turquoise glow is perfect for swimming, chilling, or simply enjoying the view, which is exactly what we did after finishing our canyoneering adventure.

The waterfall itself stands 14 meters high with a depth of 7 meters, making it the grand finale for anyone on the course.

Bamboo rafts are now restricted to preserve the area, and there are no canteens or stalls on the premises to avoid trashing it. Life jackets are required if you plan to take a dip, so don’t skip that part.

👉 Level Two

For fewer people, Level Two is where you want to be. This waterfall is about 7-11meters high with a depth of 4 1/2 meters.

It is also just above the main level, and other than swimming behind the curtain of water, one activity they added here is that you can swing from the second level to the main level.

However, as mentioned earlier, this isn’t open to people who only had an entrance on the main falls. Thus, anyone who does canyoneering has the privilege of experiencing all of the Kawasan Falls levels.

👉 Level Three

Level Three or Kabukalan Spring is the highest accessible tier and features a man-made dam that creates a wide, curtain-like waterfall. It has a height of 11 meters and a depth of 5 meters.

This area is calmer, with quiet turquoise pools, which is ideal for photos or resting at the small sari-sari store nearby.

We stopped here to take some shots and were lucky to find it not crowded on our first visit.

On our second visit, two of my friends did the Tarzan swing twice, which cost them 10 pesos each for unlimited swings.

2. There Can Be a Lot of Tourists During Peak Seasons

Kawasan Falls can get pretty crowded during peak season or holidays, especially in the summer. Even locals love to make a splash when the heat is on.

We were lucky that our first visit felt quieter compared to our second visit, which was on a national holiday, even though both visits were on a weekday. So, I suggest smart planning if you want to avoid the busiest times.

Aim for a visit between Tuesday and Thursday or show up early in the morning. You’ll get a more peaceful experience and maybe even claim the best swimming spots before the crowds arrive.

3. Water Level Can Run Low  

Keep in mind that the water at Kawasan Falls can run a bit low, usually around April to early May. This can affect how the falls look, so you might not get that full, rushing flow you see in photos.

If you’re visiting during this time, it helps to manage your expectations. A quick check with locals or your tour operator about the current water conditions can save you from any surprises.

That said, it doesn’t mean the trip isn’t worth it. You can still enjoy the pools and the overall experience, just in a slightly different way.

If you ask me, the best time to visit waterfalls in the Philippines, including Kawasan Falls, is during the shoulder season.

You’ll get occasional rain, which helps boost the water flow, plus fewer crowds. More water, fewer people. That’s always a good combo.

4. Food and Snacks  

You won’t find any food stalls around the main level of Kawasan Falls since eating here is prohibited to keep the surroundings clean.

The third level has the sari-sari store, but there are also stores at the registration area where you can grab some food and even souvenirs.

You can find local dishes and refreshing drinks that are perfect after a swim or a long walk. It’s a nice way to recharge before heading back.

We didn’t get to try any on our first visit since we already had food waiting after our canyoneering, but we had some on our second visit. I had an empanada, and some of my friends had a chocolate pastry.

5. Ideal Location for Day Trips  

✨ Moalboal  

If you’re looking to make the most out of your trip, you can easily pair Kawasan Falls with a visit to Moalboal. It’s known for its island hopping and snorkeling spots, so you’re basically getting two different adventures in one trip.

One popular combo is a Moalboal and Badian tour: Cebu: Moalboal Island Hopper Cruise with Kawasan Falls Visit, where you can witness the sardine run and even swim with sea turtles. Not a bad way to spend the day.

You can also add the canyoneering experience in Badian, just like we did. Expect a mix of trekking, rappelling, and swimming through river canyons. It’s a bit of everything, and honestly, that’s what makes it fun.

✨ Osmeña Peak

I’ve heard a lot about Osmeña Peak, and a few of my friends have already done the hike. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but it honestly sounds like a solid add-on to a Kawasan Falls trip, especially if you’re up for a sunrise start and still have energy left after.

You can start your day with a hike at Osmeña Peak, then cool off at Kawasan Falls after. Add canyoneering into the mix, and you’ve got a full day of hiking, swimming, and a bit of adrenaline in between.

7. You Can’t Go to Kawasan Without Canyoneering  

A visit to Kawasan Falls isn’t complete without trying Kawasan canyoneering. Trust me on this one.

It’s easily the highlight for most people and gives you a more hands-on way to experience the falls and the surrounding canyons. You’re not just looking at it, you’re actually going through it.

I’m really glad we did both, not once but twice, and on a weekday too. If you go this route, you’ll start from the upper sections and make your way down to the main falls, which saves you time and a lot of effort compared to hiking up (if ever you want to go up again).

Along the way, you’ll swim through clear pools, navigate rocky paths, and jump off cliffs if you’re up for it. It’s a mix of fun, a bit of adrenaline, and a lot of water.

It’s one of those experiences you’ll remember long after the trip, and honestly, it makes the whole Kawasan visit even better.

📌 Canyoneering Experience in Kawasan Falls with Lunch

If you’re planning your visit, the best time to go to Kawasan Falls is during the dry months, especially around June to July. I personally consider this part of the shoulder season, so you get a nice balance of good weather and fewer crowds.

Conditions are generally more predictable during this time, which means you can enjoy the falls and activities without worrying too much about sudden rain. The water is also clearer and calmer, making it ideal for swimming.

That said, it’s still a good idea to check the weather forecast before your trip.

The best part is they have an on-site restaurant that serves great local and international food, so you don’t have to worry about hunting for dinner when you’re tired. Plus, they can help you set up your canyoneering and snorkeling trips right there, making the whole experience super seamless and stress-free.

🛏️ Luxury: Marika Resort ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you’re looking for a peaceful escape that’s literally steps from the ocean, you have to check out Marika Resort. It’s tucked away in a quiet part of Badian, offering a much more intimate, “hidden gem” vibe compared to the bigger resorts. You can wake up in a charming bamboo-style room, walk right onto a pristine white sand beach, or spend your morning in their outdoor pool that features a cool little waterfall.

They really nail the details here, such as ice-cold air conditioning and high-speed WiFi (great if you need to post those canyoneering clips).
