San Juan is a top choice for travelers looking for a Siquijor town with plenty to offer. ✨

After visiting Siquijor multiple times, I can confidently say this area has it all—beautiful beaches, marine sanctuaries, a range of accommodations, unique tourist spots, waterfalls, and lively nightlife!
Many tourists choose to stay in San Juan Siquijor for its convenience, especially if it’s your first visit to Isla del Fuego.
In this guide, you’ll find everything you need to know about San Juan, from must-visit places and where to stay to tips on getting around and answers to common questions.

Where is San Juan Siquijor Located?

San Juan Siquijor is one of the six municipalities on Isla del Fuego, located on the southwest coast, making it a prime spot for incredible sunsets.
It’s about 6 kilometers from the island’s capital, Siquijor town, and getting to Isla del Fuego is simple.

You can fly into Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental and then take a ferry to Siquijor, this is the most ideal route by the way.
Once you arrive, you’ll notice San Juan tends to be busier than the main town, as there are more places to eat and most tourists choose to stay at some of the Siquijor resorts in the area.

Places to Visit in San Juan Siquijor
San Juan Siquijor has a range of natural attractions and spots for you to explore. Here are some of the best places to visit in San Juan.
🌊 Paliton Beach

Paliton Beach is often compared to the famous White Beach in Boracay but with fewer people. The water is crystal clear, and the sand is fine and soft.
You can swim, relax, or catch the sunset here. It’s one of the best beaches in San Juan Siquijor, and it’s easy to access from the main road.
A highlight of a must-do in Paliton Beach is getting a ‘human drone’ shot.

If you haven’t heard about them, ‘human drones’ are locals who offer photography using their own agility to capture unique shots. They are also famous at Cambugahay Falls.
Unlike traditional drones, they can reach angles or spots that a machine might miss, providing more personal and creative images.
Many tourists love this experience, not only for the great photos and videos but also for supporting local talent. So, if you want a one-of-a-kind memory of Paliton Beach, make sure to try it out.
🪸 Tubod Marine Sanctuary

If you enjoy snorkeling or diving, Tubod Marine Sanctuary is a must-visit in San Juan Siquijor. This protected area features a variety of fish species and beautiful coral reefs.
You can rent snorkeling gear nearby or bring your own, but remember to pay a snorkeling fee of 50 pesos. It’s a great spot for beginners, with calm and shallow waters.
Although I couldn’t swim here on my last trip due to lack of time, it’s one of the activities I look forward to on my next visit.
Just remember to be a responsible tourist. 😉

🏞 Lugnason Falls
Lugnason Falls, one of the Siquijor Falls, is a perfect spot to escape the beach crowds. Located about 15 minutes inland from San Juan Siquijor, it offers a peaceful retreat.
To reach the falls, you can ride a scooter, habal-habal (motorcycle taxi), or tricycle. A marked trail leads from the parking area to the falls in about 10 minutes, making it accessible for all fitness levels.
The waterfall drops just under 10 meters and forms a pool approximately 10 meters wide at its base. The clear swimming hole invites you to take a refreshing dip.
Access to Lugnason Falls is free, but expect a small parking fee of 10 pesos.
🍃 Capilay Spring Park

Capilay Spring Park is a local favorite and features a natural spring-fed pool in the heart of San Juan Siquijor.
You can enter the park for free and enjoy a refreshing dip in the cool waters or have a picnic in the shaded areas.
I first visited this park during my initial trip to Siquijor, and it felt enchanting and not too crowded, even more so than the Balete tree.
However, on my last visit, I noticed some new infrastructure (probably from an event) that changed the atmosphere a bit. While I may be mistaken, it felt different from my first experience.
🌊 Solangon Beach

One beach you should visit in Siquijor is Solangon Beach. This beach stretches for about a kilometer, providing calm waters where families can build sandcastles.
Last 2023, my family stayed at The Bruce, which is right by Solangon Beach, and from their photos, it’s clear they had a great time there.
However, I don’t recommend swimming here due to the shallow water, and during low tide, you’ll encounter thick mud.

But if you’re into photography, Solangon Beach is a fantastic spot to capture stunning sunset photos. I mean it. 😉
🏞️ Pitogo Cliff

If you enjoy a bit of adventure, Pitogo Cliff offers stunning ocean views and a chance for cliff diving. Yes, cliff diving!
The cliffs aren’t too high, making it a fun and safe spot for those trying cliff jumping for the first time.
If jumping isn’t your thing, you can still enjoy the views from above or take the steps down for some Instagram-worthy photos.
Don’t worry—the last time I checked, they had finished installing railings, so you have something to hold onto. 😉
How Do You Get Around in Siquijor?

Getting around San Juan Siquijor and the rest of Isla del Fuego is easy. The most common way to travel is by renting a motorbike, which gives you the freedom to explore the island at your own pace.
If you’re not comfortable riding a motorbike, you can hire a tricycle, a local form of transport similar to a tuk-tuk.
If you’re traveling in a larger group, you can also hire a jeepney. Tour packages are also available for booking online or through the resort where you’re staying.
There are no large buses or taxis in Siquijor, so most visitors either rent motorbikes or use tricycles.
If you plan to visit multiple tourist spots in a day, renting a motorbike is the most convenient and cost-effective option. I always rent a motorbike whenever I’m on the island.
Just remember to bring a valid driver’s license if you plan to rent one.
