I’ve visited Siquijor three times already but explored Cambugahay Falls on two of those trips.
With the island growing more popular with tourists, especially after the pandemic, I wasn’t surprised to hear that changes have been made since my last visit in 2022. 🫣
This popular waterfall, known for its stunning turquoise waters, lush green surroundings, and refreshing swimming spots, offers the perfect day in nature.

What to Expect at Cambugahay Falls in Siquijor Island?
When you visit Cambugahay Falls, you’ll be welcomed by the sound of rushing water — you can even hear it from the entrance road.
This famous place has three cascading levels of waterfalls surrounded by lush green forest and the cool, turquoise water is perfect for swimming.
Cambugahay Falls in Siquijor is also a great spot for taking photos and trying out fun activities like the famous Tarzan swing.
However, be ready for a bit of a workout on the stairs.
While going up and down the steps, you might hear some groans from the people around you, but those complaints quickly turn into smiles once they reach the stunning falls. 😉
🪙 How Much is the Entrance Fee for Cambugahay Falls in Siquijor?
As of 2024, the entrance fee to Cambugahay Falls has increased to PHP 50 per person.
There’s also an optional fee of PHP 20 if you want to do an unlimited Tarzan swing and another PHP 20 per person if you want to ride the bamboo raft.
If you’d like a photo taken by one of the “human drones” (locals capturing shots from above), a tip is appreciated.
Also, keep some small bills handy, as these are local fees, and vendors may not have change for larger notes.

👣 How Many Steps Are There to Cambugahay Falls?
To reach the falls, you’ll need to walk down around 135 steps!
The stairs are well-maintained, but they can get a bit slippery during the rainy season, so you need to be cautious.
Luckily, the descent is not too strenuous, and the sight of the falls at the bottom makes it worth the effort. ✨

I was curious how her knees handled the stairs, but it turns out one of my uncles carried her! So, not as difficult as you’d think, right? Hah!
🛵 How Do I Get to Cambugahay Falls in Siquijor?
Getting to Cambugahay Falls is relatively easy, thanks to its accessible location.
You can either rent a motorbike, hire a tricycle, or even hire a jeep for bigger groups to take you there.
The ride from Siquijor’s main port or town center will take about 40 to 50 minutes. If you’re staying in Lazi, the falls are just a short 10-minute drive away.
Don’t worry, there’s no traffic in Siquijor, so you won’t have to deal with being stuck in any jams. That’s one of the reasons I love driving here. 🤭
But if you prefer more comfort, there are lots of guided tours available, which often include other attractions in Siquijor as well.

Cambugahay Falls in Siquijor is famous for its unique combination of beauty and accessibility. Unlike other waterfalls that may require long hikes, this one is relatively easy to reach.
The Cambugahay Falls is made up of three cascading levels, with natural swimming pools at each tier. Its turquoise waters, fed by natural springs, are perfect for swimming and relaxing.
One of the highlights is the Tarzan swing, where you can swing from a rope and jump into the refreshing water.
I’ve done this Tarzan swing twice on my first visit but on my second one, my friends and I opted for human drone shots while on a bamboo raft.
This fun activity adds to the charm of the falls and is one of the main reasons people love visiting this spot.
The area is also surrounded by dense, green vegetation, making it feel like a hidden paradise in Siquijor.

Cambugahay Falls is located in Lazi, a town on the island of Siquijor, Philippines. It’s about 2 kilometers from the main road and is accessible by motorbike or car.
The falls are just a short ride away from popular tourist destinations in Siquijor, such as Lazi Church and Convent, which are also worth visiting, and other Siquijor Falls such as Locong Falls.
Siquijor is known as a laid-back island with beautiful beaches, historical landmarks, and a mystical vibe.
Cambugahay Falls in Siquijor is one of its top attractions, and visiting it should be high on your list when exploring Isla del Fuego.
Best Time to Visit Cambugahay Falls to Beat the Crowd
The best time to visit Cambugahay Falls in Siquijor is early in the morning or late in the afternoon when there are fewer people.
Since it’s a popular tourist spot, the falls can get crowded, especially during weekends and holidays. If you want to enjoy the falls without a large crowd, aim to visit on a weekday.
The dry season, from November to May, is also ideal because the weather is more pleasant and the water is clearer.
However, waterfalls are much alive during the rainy season, from June to December. We still get typhoons in the last months of the year.
This is also the best time to get discounted rates for accommodations, guided tours, and even transportation costs from Dumaguete, Cebu, Bohol, or Manila.
Tips for Visiting Cambugahay Falls in Siquijor
🩱 Bring Swimwear: The water is too inviting not to swim, so come prepared with your swimsuit and a towel. But anything you’re comfortable with is fine.
🩴 Wear Non-Slip Footwear: The steps leading to the falls can be slippery, especially after rain. So, make sure you wear shoes or sandals with good grip.
👀 Keep an Eye on Your Belongings: While Siquijor is generally safe, it’s always a good idea to watch over your personal items, especially near busy spots. But I would say that locals like the guides in Cambugahay Falls are trustworthy (based on my experience, of course).
🍃 Try the Tarzan Swing: Don’t miss out on the fun while in Cambugahay Falls! For a small fee (PHP 20), you can have unlimited Tarzan swings and plunge into the cool waters of the falls.
🥤 Bring Snacks and Water: There are small vendors near the entrance, but bringing your own water and snacks can save you time and ensure you stay hydrated.

A lesser-known waterfall, Locong Falls is a peaceful alternative to the Cambugahay Falls. Its atmosphere is perfect if you want to escape the crowds and enjoy nature any time of the day.
We went here instead to Cambugahay Falls during my third visit to the island and it was the best decision I made that day.
I felt so connected to nature and the hike was not even as hard as the steps from Cambugahay Falls.
🐓 Ostrich Park Siquijor
A newer addition to Siquijor’s tourist spots, Ostrich Park offers a fun and unique experience.
Here, you can get up close to ostriches, feed them, and also see other animals like large chickens and small quail birds. It feels like a mini farm adventure.
The owner is very knowledgeable and welcoming to visitors, ensuring the animals are well cared for without compromising them.
